What's the legal basis for this course?
Conducting food hygiene and safety trainings is mandatory for all companies handling perishable food in Germany. This obligation arises from Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, § 4 Lebensmittelhygieneverordnung (LMHV) and § 43 Infektionsschutzgesetz (IfSG).
Who must be trained?
All employees who produce, handle or distribute perishable food.
When is training required?
Before starting employment (external initial instruction by the health department required)
At least once a year (hygiene training under § 4 LMHV)
At least every two years (infection protection training under § 43 IfSG)
Additionally on special occasions, e.g.: introduction of new equipment, changes in hygiene processes or food safety incidents
