Safety training is mandatory in Germany for all companies that carry out activities involving radiation. This requirement is based on several interrelated regulations. Section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) requires every employer to provide their employees with sufficient and appropriate instruction on safety and health protection, both upon hiring and regularly thereafter. DGUV Regulation 1 (Section 4) specifies the requirements for statutory accident insurance and mandates instruction at least once a year. Specifically for working with radiation, § 63 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) applies: This regulation requires training for all involved personnel before commencing work and at least once a year thereafter. Documented radiation protection training helps you fulfill these obligations in a transparent manner and protects the health of your teams when working with radiation.
