Safety training is mandatory in Germany for all companies whose employees operate industrial trucks. This requirement is based on several interrelated regulations. Section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) requires every employer to provide their employees with sufficient and appropriate instruction on safety and health protection, both upon hiring and regularly thereafter. DGUV Regulation 1 (Section 4) specifies the requirements for statutory accident insurance and mandates instruction at least once a year. Specifically for industrial trucks, DGUV Regulation 68 applies: It governs the safe operation of industrial trucks and requires that only authorized and trained personnel operate them. Documented training helps you fulfill these obligations in a transparent manner and prevents accidents in warehouse and production operations.
