Companies in Germany are required to provide regular training to their office and computer-based workers. This requirement is based on several interrelated regulations. Section 12 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) requires every employer to provide their employees with sufficient and appropriate training on safety and health protection, both upon hiring and regularly thereafter. DGUV Regulation 1 (Section 4) specifies the requirements for statutory accident insurance and mandates training at least once a year. Specifically for computer work, ASR A6 applies: This Technical Rule for Workplaces defines the requirements for the design of computer workstations, from the setup of the workstation to the organization of work.
